5 Family-Friendly Charity Events in Vermont This October
The leaves are changing colors, the weather is getting cooler, and pumpkin spice everything is back in stores. That can only mean one thing: October is here! And with October comes a whole host of family-friendly charity events happening around Vermont. Here are just a few of the many great events taking place this month.
1. Kids Harvestfest Oct 8 - Register on their website
Details from their page. "Let the kids play while you take in the sights, sounds and flavors of HarvestFest. HarvestFest kid's activities will be held in the commons, located by the Mill House pond, behind the Long Trail buildings. Kid's activities will be split into two sessions, with the option to have kids participate in both sessions. Each session is full of activities including the rock climbing wall and bungee jump (harnessed on a trampoline), kid's crafts, snacks and games. Kids need to be dropped off in the commons by a parent or guardian and picked up on time, otherwise, a late fee will occur. There will be a 30 min break in between sessions. Parents will have to come to check kids out for the half-hour break before returning for the afternoon if registered for both."
2. The Halloween Running Scared
The Halloween Hustle is a 5k race through downtown Rutland. Runners are encouraged to dress up in their best Halloween costumes. Registration for the race is $5 in advance and $10 on race day. Check out their Facebook Page for more info.
3. The Great Vermont Corn Maze & Pumpkin Festival: This festive event features a 10-acre corn maze, hayrides, a petting zoo, live music, and more. And if you get hungry, there's no need to worry - they've got you covered with plenty of food options, including wood-fired pizza, pulled pork sandwiches, and roasted corn on the cob. Best of all, proceeds from the event go to support local farmers and community initiatives. Details on their facebook page.
4.The Horribles Parade & BrattleBOO!: October 31st at 4p.
